This article is focused on explain how to implement a personalized recommendation based on search keyword using the E-marketing Spot Title provided with FEP6.

In particular, the use case is the following:

  • recommend the products "Widescreen LCD monitor" and "Office chair"
  • with an image and the text "Don't forget the importance of the ergonomics! Improve your workspace with our ergonomics products"
  • when the customer search the keyword "Laptop"

The result is the following:

Let's review the steps to get the above requirement ...

In order to cover this use case we need to create the following components:

  • a content with the image and text we want to show up
  • a web activity with:
    • an e-marketing spot placed on landing page
    • an e-marketing spot title contains the content
    • a current page target to set the search keywords
    • a recommend catalog entry action

Create the content

This step is pretty easy. We need just to choose an image, create a new content of type Asset and than make the reference with the image. The following screenshot review this configuration:

Create the web activity

Once we have created a new web activity, the first thing to do is choose the place where we want to show up our recommendation. To make the right decision we have to be aware of the Aurora search landing page structure looking at the Info Center.

The e-marketing spot SearchResults_CatEntries seems an optimum candidate.

Than, the next step is to set the marketing spot title (new in FEP6!!!) up. Once we drag&drop the target E-Marketing Spot Title we need to define the content it supposes to display. In this case the content is the asset linked with our image.

Our web activity now needs a page target; so, we can use the current page target and than define exactly when this marketing spot has to be displayed, in other words when the customer search the keyword "Laptop":

The final step is finally make the recommendation using the action Recommend Catalog Entry.

The Web Activity is ready. We just need to activate it and enjoy its power!
